EuroSpaceport joins an agreement between ESA and the Polish rocket company SpaceForest to launch sea-based rocket
EuroSpaceport is proud to announce that we have joined a contract between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the rocket company SpaceForest through its Boost! program. This marks a major milestone in our mission to enable agile, sea-based rocket launches from the North Sea.
“ESA decided to fund this project to increase the likelihood of the North Sea being a commercial launch site.” says Nicolas Kristoffersen, founder of EuroSpaceport. “We see ESAs support as an indication that offshore launches and landings can be important for Europe, just as it is on other continents.”
The contract supports our collaboration with the Polish aerospace company SpaceForest, who will provide the suborbital rocket and EuroSpaceport provide a launch pad for the upcoming demonstration mission. The Boost! funding will help cover preparation work, legal framework, and coordination ahead of the planned launch in 2026.
Working closely with leading Danish offshore companies — Blue Water Shipping, SEMCO Maritime, ESVAGT, and Port of Esbjerg — we are building a launch system designed to demonstrate Europe's ability to launch rockets from the sea, safely and flexibly.
“This collaboration can become a breakthrough not just for EuroSpaceport, but for Europe” says Nicolas Kristoffersen, founder of EuroSpaceport. “It will prove that by including strong established partners, Europe can build the next generation of space infrastructure — fast and closer to home.”
The launch is part of EuroSpaceport’s initiative to offer suborbital and potentially orbital launch services from offshore platforms. With the support of ESA, Spaceforest and our industrial partners, this mission will set the stage for Denmark’s first offshore rocket launch and position Esbjerg as a future hub for European space innovation.
